Teachers’ understanding towards concepts and processes of children's literacy

چکیده

This study aims to describe the understanding and process of implementing literacy in early childhood. The method used this is a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques were through observation, interviews, documentation. subjects Early Childhood Education (ECE) teachers Lhokseumawe. Ten selected using purposive sampling technique from five kindergartens; Pertiwi Kindergarten, Bunayya, Safiatuddin Ukhtani. results showed that: (1) ECE Lhokseumawe interpreted concept as basic skill that children must have reading, writing, speaking. Introduction for childhood initial preparation master writing speaking skills so becomes more prepared face education at next level, Elementary School or Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, (2) institutions generally carried out various forms play activities children's daily habit methods media educational toys.
